Everton youngster Gethin Jones has signed a new deal with the Premier League club until summer 2017.
The 19-year-old defender's previous contract at Goodison Park was due to expire in 12 months.
Jones made his senior debut for the Toffees in the Europa League last season before being sent out on loan to Plymouth Argyle.
"I'm over the moon," the Wales Under-21 international told the club's official website. "I worked hard last year to get this new contract.
"I've been working hard as long as I've been here, since I was 13, and all I want to do is try and play for the first team. I had a little taste of it last season and now I want more.
"It was a brilliant experience at Plymouth too and they got into the playoffs. It was good for me because I changed positions to centre midfield where I used to play when I was younger."
Jones has been capped twice by Wales at Under-21 level.
