UEFA president Michel Platini has backed France midfielder Samir Nasri after the Mancheser City midfielder insulted a journalist.
Nasri was involved in an angry confrontation with the media after his country's defeat to Spain in the Euro 2012 quarter-finals, and it had been suggested that he could be heading for a two-year ban.
"If I got suspended every time I insulted a journalist I wouldn't have had many caps. Whether Samir Nasri deserves something? I have heard talk of two-year suspension but that's absolutely ludicrous," he told Sky Sports News.
Platini made 72 appearances for France.
