Brede Hangeland: 'We believe we can survive'

Fulham captain Brede Hangeland insists that the players still believe that they can avoid relegation this season, despite sitting bottom of the Premier League table.

Fulham defender Brede Hangeland has insisted that he remains confident about his side's chances of avoiding relegation from the Premier League this season, despite the loss to Manchester City on Saturday.

The Cottagers suffered a 5-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium, which takes their goal difference down to minus 40.

"We have quite a few games we know we can win. It is still doable and there is a belief we can do it," the Norwegian told reporters.

"Time is running out a little bit and we need to pick up results. But if we are honest, we didn't expect to win at Man City.

"We were hoping for something but I suppose in the 'budget' there weren't many points here. We will have to get them elsewhere."

Fulham sit four points from safety at the bottom of the league table.
