Deportivo La Coruna lose on La Liga return

Former Blackburn striker Ruben Rochina is among the goals as Granada battle back to defeat newly-promoted Deportivo La Courna in their La Liga opener.

Granada came from behind to overcome newly-promoted Deportivo La Coruna 2-1 at Los Carmenes on the opening weekend of the new La Liga season this evening.

The visitors started much the brighter of the two sides and their early pressure was rewarded when Ivan Cavaleiro fired in from close range in the 20th minute.

It remained 1-0 to Deportivo at the break, but 10 minutes after the restart, the home side were level.

The scorer was former Blackburn Rovers striker Ruben Rochina, who fired into the bottom corner of the net from 20 yards out.

Both sides then created opportunities to score the winning goal, which eventually went the way of Granada 13 minutes from time.

Fran Rico sent over a cross into the Deportivo area and it was Jean-Sylvain Babin who rose highest to head the ball beyond the reach of German Lux.
