Prospective Blackburn Rovers signing Mariano Pavone is reportedly being chased by Liverpool, Fulham and Swansea after Rovers failed to complete the deal.

Blackburn remain in pole position to sign the Argentinian international striker as he has lined up a three-year arrangement at Ewood Park, although the deal has yet to be finalised.

The 29-year-old is a free agent after buying out the remainder of his contract at Spanish club Real Betis.

Pavone's British representative Barry McIntosh confirmed that a number of clubs were monitoring the situation.

"Yes, there are a number of clubs looking at Mariano, obviously I cannot name them at this stage," Sky Sports quote him as saying.

"The Blackburn situation is frustrating for Mariano, but as they made the move first we are willing to give them every chance to finalise the move."

Pavone has made one international appearance for Argentina, in 2007.
