Angel di Maria hails "incomparable" Wayne Rooney

Angel di Maria admits to being surprised over Wayne Rooney's competitive nature for Manchester United this season.

Angel di Maria has paid tribute to Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney, insisting that his hunger for the game is "incomparable".

The Argentine joined United for a club-record £59.7m in the summer and admits to being pleasantly surprised over Rooney's competitive nature.

In an interview with South America's Radio America, Di Maria said of the Red Devils captain: "Rooney is an impressive player. He has this quality, mentality and this hunger to play every game that is incomparable.

"He plays 90 minutes in every game. He is always committed, giving everything in every match.

"It is he that has surprised me the most, with his hunger and how he commits to every game. He is a player that deserves to be here."

Louis van Gaal's side sit third in the Premier League table, nine points behind co-leaders Chelsea and Manchester City.
