Manchester United have confirmed an agreement to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid.
The Red Devils had previously been looking to strengthen their midfield with Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong regarded as their top target, but with the Dutchman keen to remain at Barcelona, the Premier League club began to look at other options.
Reports emerged this week that United were interested in signing Casemiro, who has made 336 appearances for Real Madrid.
On Friday, United confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Los Blancos to sign the Brazilian for £59.5m, with the transfer subject to personal terms, United Kingdom visa requirements and a medical.
The 30-year-old - who is expected to arrive in the UK within the next 48 hours - will put pen to paper on a four-year deal with an option for an additional year.
Following the announcement, Real Madrid have stated that an "institutional act of homage and farewell to Casemiro will take place at Real Madrid City on Monday morning, with the presence of club president Florentino Perez".
Casemiro has already been welcomed to Old Trafford by his former Real Madrid teammate Raphael Varane who posted a message on Instagram.
The France international wrote: "Many battles fought together with my warrior Case! Welcome to Manchester, amigo."
The Brazil international will leave Real Madrid after winning eighteen major honours with the club, including three La Liga titles and five Champions League trophies.
