Marseille were reportedly close to signing Leicester City attacker Riyad Mahrez in the 2014 summer transfer window, only for the deal to fall through at the final minute.
Mahrez, 24, has been one of the stars of the Premier League this season, netting 10 goals and registering six assists in 14 league matches.
At the weekend, the Algerian international hit a treble as Leicester won 3-0 at Swansea City to move to the top of the Premier League table.
However, according to France Football, Mahrez was close to making the move to Marseille at the end of the 2013-14 season.
The attacker, who joined Leicester from Le Havre in 2013, only managed four goals in 32 appearances for the Foxes last term.
