Owen Hargreaves has said that a rule should be introduced to ensure that more British managers manage in the Premier League.
Nine British managers are currently in charge of Premier League teams and none of last season's top four clubs is managed by a Brit.
"Like foreign players it's not as sexy to have a local manager. Knowing the league as well as [English managers] do is a real bonus," Hargreaves told BT Sport.
"When you get a foreign manager and foreign players it isn't always the best thing. I think there should be a rule in this country that there should be a certain amount of British managers, not only for the league but for the national team as well."
Hargreaves made 42 appearances for England between 2001 and 2008.
