Ronaldinho dismisses retirement rumours

Former Barcelona star Ronaldinho dismisses rumours that he is to retire from the game.

Former Barcelona star Ronaldinho has dismissed rumours that he is to retire from the game.

The Brazilian playmaker is currently playing for Liga MX side Queretaro and was rumoured to be hanging up his boots in the near future.

However, the former AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has denied the speculation after calling a press conference to assure the Mexican club of his future.

"First of all, I had to tell you that the rumour about my retirement is not true. I'm so happy at the moment and the idea of quitting is not in my thoughts," the 35-year-old said, according to Goal.com.

"I don't know if I'll stay on for five or six years, but while things are still going well, there's no reason for leaving. I'm happy and in my best moment since I arrived in Mexico, so I'm going to continue doing what I know how to do best.

"I'll keep working on being the player providing the most assists until the end of the season. I need to score more goals, but I'm still helping the team."

Ronaldinho has been making more headlines off the pitch than he has on it since completing his move to the Mexican league in September after missing the whole of the club's pre-season training at the start of 2015, prompting the club's owners to question his commitment.
