Real Madrid have been dealt a blow after Marcelo was ruled out for the remainder of the La Liga season.
The long-serving left-back suffered an adductor injury against Athletic Bilbao on Monday evening, resulting in his absence against Alaves four days later.
However, while he may return in time for the resumption of the Champions League next month, the Brazil international will also miss Real's last three top-flight fixtures.
A club statement read: "Following the tests carried out today on Marcelo by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to his left adductor muscle.
"His recovery will continue to be assessed."
The 32-year-old has made a total of 22 appearances in all competitions during the current campaign.
