Football rumours from the media

More managerial rumours make the papers on Wednesday.

What the papers say

The race for the Villa Park hot seat is warming up with the Daily Mail reporting that Aston Villa will face competition from Monaco to bring in Thierry Henry. The Ligue 1 club sit 18th having won only once in their opening nine games and are interested in bringing in the former France striker, the paper says.

But the Daily Mirror reports that the players’ favourite for the job is John Terry, while Brendan Rodgers and Jose Mourinho’s former assistant Rui Faria are still in the frame.

Continuing with the managerial merry-go-round, Mourinho is set to hold clear-the-air talks with the Old Trafford hierarchy after questions were raised about his future at the club following a poor run of results.

Tottenham are mulling over a bid for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in January having had a £40million offer rejected in the summer, the Daily Mirror suggests. Manchester City are also interested in the Frenchman, but are more interested in Ruben Neves at Wolves and Frenkie de Jong at Ajax.

Manchester City are planning on holding talks with Leroy Sane about an extension to his contract, the Sun reports.
