West Ham United reportedly decide to appeal a charge handed to Manuel Lanzini for alleged simulation against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

West Ham United have reportedly decided to appeal against the punishment handed to Manuel Lanzini for alleged simulation at the weekend.

During the first half of the Premier League fixture at Stoke City, Lanzini won a penalty for his side after contact was made with Potters defender Erik Pieters.

However, the Football Association announced on Monday that Lanzini faced a two-match ban after each member of a three-man panel decided that the Argentine had dived in order to win a spot kick.

Hammers boss David Moyes indicated that he had been left "surprised" by the charge and according to Sky Sports News, the East London outfit have decide to lodge an appeal.

A final decision must be made by the Football Association by Tuesday evening due to West Ham facing Arsenal in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.

Should West Ham fail in overturning the charge, Lanzini would miss the showdown with the Gunners, as well as this weekend's top-flight meeting with Newcastle United.
