Brighton manager Gus Poyet is left frustrated after his side's 1-0 loss to West Ham.

Brighton manager Gus Poyet was left bemoaning Leon Bridcutt's defensive error after the Seagulls narrowly lost 1-0 to West Ham at the Amex Stadium tonight.

Bridcutt lost control of the ball in front of his own penalty area before being dispossessed by Kevin Nolan, who ran through to score the only goal of the game.

"It was one mistake. We played the kind of football that if you make a mistake it will be expensive," said Poyet.

Despite coming away from the game pointless, the Uruguayan believes his team were back to their best following a run of poor performances, which has seen them go six league games without a win.

"It was one-way traffic. The whole game was the same, someone wants to play and go forward and someone wants to defend but unfortunately it didn't work with the result," he said.

"But I'm proud and Brighton is back to its best."

The Seagulls travel to Birmingham on Saturday before another away trip to Watford three days later.
