Gary O'Neil and Eddie Howe will each be bidding to end unwanted streaks when Wolverhampton Wanderers play host to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday.

Gary O'Neil and Eddie Howe could finally end unwanted streaks when Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United square off on Sunday.

Both teams have ambitions to put together improved Premier League campaigns in 2024-25, with only one team on track to do so thus far.

Newcastle will be delighted with the outcome of their opening three matches, accumulating seven points from fixtures against Southampton, Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur.

In sharp contrast, Wolves have only collected a solitary point from encounters against Arsenal, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, conceding nine goals in the process.

The respective sides head into their upcoming clash at Molineux with this fixture having been littered with draws in the Premier League.

A total of seven stalemates have taken place at Wolves' home ground in nine fixtures, with the two sides posting one victory apiece during that period.

O'Neil, Howe bidding to end negative runs

In terms of the two managers in question, neither of them enter this particular fixture with positive experiences in one way or another.

Newcastle boss Howe is yet to win a single top-flight fixture at Molineux, losing twice during his time at Bournemouth and recording draws while at the Magpies.

Meanwhile, O'Neil has never got the better of Howe as a manager in five attempts, drawing three of those games and losing the other two.

The two defeats in question were each at St James' Park, however, with two of the three draws coming at Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium and Molineux.

Wolves' dismal record home record

Wolves' form at their West Midlands home has previously been a strong point, yet that has not been the case in recent league games.

Five losses have been posted in their most recent six such fixtures at Molineux, the last game ending in a 6-2 defeat to Chelsea.

Furthermore, they have registered just one win in their last 13 outings in the Premier League, collecting just six points during that period.

In sharp contrast, Newcastle have scored in all but one of their last 23 fixtures in the Premier League; the only time they failed to do so coming at Crystal Palace in April.
