Gareth Ellis has insisted that he still has the motivation and drive required to continue playing at the highest level, as he prepares for the latest chapter in his career.
The 33-year-old marks 15 years in the sport with a testimonial match against Wakefield Wildcats at Bell Vue tomorrow.
Having agreed a new deal with Hull last year to keep him at the club until the end of 2016, Ellis is hopeful that he can prolong his career for a few more years yet.
"Until I get to the point where I look across the pitch and feel that the players are better than me or until I feel I am really struggling to be as good as I was the year before, then I will continue on," he told the Hull Daily Mail.
"I still have that drive to be better each year and I still feel I have improvement in me and that I can be a better player than I was last season. While I feel like that, I don't see any reason to stop playing because I love this job and feel I can offer something to this team."
Ellis played 24 of the Black and Whites' 28 games last season, scoring nine tries in the process.
