The Czech, seeded 23rd, moved into a 3-0 lead at the start of the opening set before she was able to clinch it 6-3.

The 27-year-old then dominated her Russian opponent in the second, breaking three times on her way to sealing a 6-3 6-1 triumph with one hour on the clock.

Safarova will now face either former champion Petra Kvitova or Barbora Zahlavova Strycova for a place in Saturday's final.
