AC Milan have confirmed that Andrea Conti will undergo tests after sustaining another injury to his knee.
In September, Conti underwent surgery on the area and had been hoping to recover in time for the upcoming Milan derby on April 4.
However, Milan have released a statement to announce that the full-back has suffered "a severe sprain", although an initial examination has ruled out another rupture of his cruciate ligament.
A statement read: "AC Milan inform that during today's training session, Andrea Conti has suffered a sprained knee injury, the same knee he underwent surgery on September 16.
"The diagnostic exams and checks carried out by Professor Herbert Schoenhuber excluded a rupture of the reconstructed anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), but they have shown a severe sprain to the lateral knee compartment, which will be further evaluated in the coming days."
The 24-year-old joined Milan in July, but has made just two appearances for the Serie A giants.
