Newcastle United have reportedly made contact with Arsenal over a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The 32-year-old has been frozen out of Mikel Arteta's setup since being stripped of the captaincy in December following multiple disciplinary breaches.
With Arsenal performing well without their former skipper in the side, Aubameyang is being strongly linked with a move away in January and is believed to be weighing up his options.
Newcastle have been credited with an interest as their new owners prepare to splash the cash in January, and The Mirror now reports that they have touched base with Arsenal over a loan-to-buy move.
The report adds that Newcastle are keen to sign Aubameyang on loan this month before potentially triggering an option to buy for £20m in the summer.
The former Borussia Dortmund man penned a new three-year deal with the Gunners back in 2020 but has struggled for form since, registering just four goals in 14 Premier League games this term.
Aubameyang boasts a total of 92 goals and 21 assists in 163 games for Arsenal, winning one FA Cup during his time in North London.
