Johnnie Jackson: 'I will be making the team aware of derby importance'

Charlton Athletic midfielder Johnnie Jackson insists that he will be making all of his teammates aware of the importance of the club's derby clash with Crystal Palace.

Charlton Athletic midfielder Johnnie Jackson has insisted that he will be making all of his teammates aware of the importance of Wednesday's League Cup clash with Crystal Palace.

The Championship club will be facing their bitter rivals for the chance to reach the fourth round of the tournament, and Jackson has revealed that everyone at the club will be told how much the derby should mean to both players and fans alike.

"I'll be making sure all of the boys know exactly what this means to the fans," said Jackson, according to the Daily Star.

"When the draw came out we were all rubbing our hands. It's a great tie for us. It's a massive test for us but for the supporters and the bragging rights it is obviously a huge deal.

"We need to portray that on the pitch and it's part of my job to get that message across to the boys. A lot of them have already been made aware that it means a lot to you. We need to make sure that it means a lot to us as well."

Jackson has spent almost 15 years at Charlton since joining in 2000, making 200 appearances for the Addicks in the process.
