Monchi: 'Sevilla closing in on Samir Nasri'

Sevilla are "finalising the transfer" of Manchester City attacker Samir Nasri, according to the Spanish club's director of football Monchi.

Sevilla director of football Monchi has revealed that his club are close to signing Manchester City attacker Samir Nasri on a season-long loan deal.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Sevilla were the favourites to sign the 29-year-old, who is not understood to be in the plans of Man City boss Pep Guardiola this season.

A number of European teams are believed to be monitoring proceedings, but Monchi has claimed that Sevilla are "finalising the transfer of Nasri", who has been their leading target since the start of the transfer window.

"We are finalising the transfer of Nasri. We are negotiating with the player and City and trying to close the deal. If we get Nasri, we will have got the player we have been looking for from the start," Monchi told reporters.

Sevilla are said to be prepared to take on 65% of Nasri's wages during the loan spell.
