Three Premier League clubs monitor Everton's James McCarthy?

James McCarthy is reportedly attracting interest from three Premier League clubs as talks over a new contract with Everton stall.

Everton are reportedly in danger of losing midfielder James McCarthy as three Premier League clubs show an interest in the player.

According to the Daily Star, the Toffees have yet to open talks with the 23-year-old over a new contract and it is thought that the Blues have made promises to the former Wigan Athletic star regarding improved terms.

His current situation is said to have alerted both Manchester United and Manchester City, while Tottenham Hotspur may rekindle their interest in McCarthy, having mulled over a move for him last summer prior to his switch to Goodison Park.

McCarthy featured in Everton's 2-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
