West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon has reportedly undergone a medical with Newcastle United and will complete his move between the two clubs on Monday.
The Venezuela international has a £16.5m release clause in his contract and is a long-term target for Rafael Benitez at St James' Park.
Following plenty of speculation, Sky Sports News suggests that the transfer saga will come to an end within the next 24 hours as Rondon is now on Tyneside to finalise a deal.
A separate report indicates that Dwight Gayle will drop down a division to join West Brom, as the Magpies are reluctant to trigger Rondon's buyout clause and a straight loan offer could instead be tabled.
Newcastle have added five players to their squad this summer, but Benitez has made clear that he wants more arrivals before the transfer window closes.
