Steve McClaren: 'Sven Goran Eriksson was great to work with'

Steve McClaren praises Sven Goran Eriksson as the pair prepare to go head-to-head tomorrow.

Nottingham Forest manager Steve McClaren has paid tribute to Sven Goran Eriksson as he prepares his team to take on the Swede's Leicester City tomorrow.

Eriksson hired McClaren as a coach during his time in charge of England and the Forest boss has revealed that he has fond memories of his time working with the 63-year-old.

"We had some great times together," he told the club's official website. "Three tournaments - two World Cups and a Euro Championship - were fantastic.

"He was great for me because he allowed me to do my job which was to coach.

"He was in charge but it suited us both because we had a great relationship and when people look back they will see it was quite a successful period for England."

McClaren claimed his first league victory as Forest manager with Tuesday's 1-0 win over Doncaster Rovers.
