Rennes pair Yann M'Vila and Chris Mavinga could face season-long suspensions after violating the club's policy on international duty.
The duo were sent home by the France FA after breaking a curfew, sparking a furious reaction from their club manager Frederic Antonetti.
"He will never have my confidence as a man again," Antonetti said of M'Vila, adding that both players could be suspended until May next year.
M'Vila and Mavinga have been forced to train with the Rennes youth team while the club decides what kind of disciplinary action to take, Goal.com reports.
M'Vila, former captain of France at Under-19 level, has previously attracted interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
