Argentinian defender Cristian Romero has posted a fond farewell to Atalanta BC ahead of his imminent move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 23-year-old is set to complete a switch to North London in a deal worth approximately €55m (£46.6m) to Atalanta, who officially signed him permanently from Juventus earlier on Friday.
However, Romero's stint as a permanent Atalanta player will be very short-lived, as he has confirmed his exit with a heartfelt message on social media.
Romero wrote on Instagram: "Unfortunately the day has come that I never thought could come so soon. I say unfortunately because in Atalanta I found more than just a club, but a real family with which I was able to grow and fulfill some of my dreams as a child such as playing and winning with my national team.
"I thank the Percassi family who believed in me more than anyone a year ago, all my teammates, the coach, all the staff and managers. But above all I want to greet the Bergamo fans because they made me feel at home and welcomed me as one of them.
"I am sure that one day we will meet again and I promise you that you will have one more fan who will follow you in every match. Thanks for all."
Romero leaves Atalanta after scoring three goals and assisting five more from 42 appearances in the 2020-21 season, and he featured three times for Argentina during their Copa America triumph.
