Stoke City's Mark Hughes pleased with Leicester City win

Mark Hughes says that he is happy with how his Stoke City players performed against Leicester City in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has said that he was pleased with his side's display against Leicester City in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Goals from Kenwyne Jones and Charlie Adam proved enough for the Potters to edge past their Championship opponents 2-1 in the third round at the Britannia Stadium.

"I thought we showed a lot of control in the game," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "Obviously, you expect the opposition to come out flying and that was certainly the case in the first five, 10 minutes.

"We had to get through that and once we'd done that I thought we showed real control and scored two good goals. We gave them a little bit of encouragement with the goal we conceded, so the last 10 minutes or so was a little bit frenetic and we had to defend well.

"I think collectively we were good today. It was important we gave the competition and the opposition the level of respect they deserved and I thought we did that."

David Nugent scored for Leicester in the 77th minute.
