Stuttgart president to splash the cash

Stuttgart president Gerd Mauser admits that investment is required for the club to push on into the European spaces.

Stuttgart president Gerd Mauser has promised to spend more money in the summer in an attempt to help his side push for the European places.

Stuttgart currently sit 12th in the Bundesliga, clear of relegation danger but some way off the European places and Mauser has said that summer investment should push the team on to the next level.

"It has got to be our aim to play for places in Europe," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

"We are certainly going to spend more money in the coming transfer period than we did last summer."

Stuttgart face Borussia Dortmund at home after the international weekend.
