Swansea City interim manager Alan Curtis has insisted that Andre Ayew will not leave the club this month.
The Welsh outfit have reportedly already rejected a £12m offer for the 26-year-old from the Black Cats.
There have been suggestions that Sunderland striker Fabio Borini would be sold to Swansea as part of the deal, but Curtis has been told by the board that Ayew will stay put.
"Fabio would be one of a number of players whose name has been mentioned, but the talk of Andre going there as some sort of part of the deal is wide of the mark," the South Wales Evening Post quotes Curtis as saying.
"I spoke to the chairman this morning just to clarify the situation and he assures me that there is no way that Andre will be allowed to leave during this window.
"On that basis, whether Fabio was part of a deal involving Andre I don't know, but certainly Andre is out of the deal. Fabio Borini would be one of a number of players that we are looking at."
Ayew is Swansea's top scorer this season with seven goals.
