West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that on-loan winger Silvestre Varela will be sidelined until next week after undergoing a minor groin operation.
The 29-year-old Portugal international has made one appearance for the Baggies this season following his arrival from Porto on a one-year deal.
"Silvestre has had a minor groin operation in Munich," West Brom boss Alan Irvine is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "Porto are happy and comfortable with it. We hope Silvestre will join us for training sometime next week."
West Brom are back in Premier League action on October 20 when they host Manchester United.
