West Brom boss Steve Clarke reveals that midfielder Graham Dorrans is free to leave the club after telling them that he needs a new challenge.

West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke has revealed that midfielder Graham Dorrans is free to leave the club during the January transfer window.

Dorrans has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the Baggies' starting lineup this season, making just 11 appearances so far.

However, Clarke insists that Dorrans's desire to leave is not down to lack of opportunity, but rather the need for a new challenge.

"Graham came to see me a couple of weeks ago and he said [wanting to leave] was down not to because of what is happening this season but previous seasons," said Clarke.

"He feels as though he needs a fresh challenge. We had an amicable discussion.

"We came to an agreement that, if something came along in January that was good for the club and good for Graham, we would listen to the possibility that Graham could leave."

Dorrans has been at The Hawthorns since 2008, making 114 league appearances and scoring 17 times for the club during that time.
