Brian McDermott critical of 'naive' Leeds Rhinos

Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott admits that "naivety" almost cost his side during their win over Wigan Warriors in Super League.

Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott has admitted that his side were guilty of being 'naive' during their win over Wigan Warriors in Super League.

The Rhinos opened up a four-point lead at the top of the table last night thanks to a 25-18 triumph at Headingley Carnegie.

However, McDermott has criticised his players for allowing Wigan back into the game.

"No disrespect to Wigan, but I thought during that final 20 minutes there was a naivety to us," he told reporters. "They played their standard throughout the game, and it's only when you drop off that they'll start to make some breaks.

"I thought we had to be very good defensively to keep containing Wigan, and the moment we stopped doing that the started to poke their noses through."

Leeds are back in Super League action on August 21 when they travel to Hull FC.
