Chelsea have made their first official offer for Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic, according to a report.
The Blues are understood to have been locked in discussions with the German club in recent weeks to determine a transfer fee.
Pulisic is rumoured to be valued at £70m by Dortmund, despite only having 18 months left to run on a contract that he is reluctant to extend.
Following much speculation, the London Evening Standard suggests that Chelsea have now made a formal approach to sign the United States international.
The bid tabled by the Premier League side is said to be below BVB's asking price, but there is still hope on the Blues' behalf that a transfer can go through in January.
A new wide player is a top priority for Maurizio Sarri, as Pedro and Willian are in their thirties and Eden Hazard remains a target for Real Madrid.
