Goals from Chris Wood and Mohamed Salah see New Zealand and Egypt go in level at the break at Old Trafford.

A goal from Mohamed Salah ensured that Egypt went into the break level at 1-1 against New Zealand at Old Trafford this afternoon.

The Egyptians dominated the match from the first whistle with long spells in possession.

However, it was New Zealand that broke the deadlock in the 17th minute. Ipswich Town defender Tommy Smith flicked on a corner from Michael McGlinchey for Chris Wood, who guided the ball into the net from close range.

Egypt's response to falling behind was positive and they eventually equalised with 38 minutes played. Mohamed Aboutrika was the creator, crossing for Salah to volley past Michael O'Keeffee in the New Zealand goal.

Mohamed Emad had a chance to put Egypt in front moments later, but he headed wide from close range.
