Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Danny Batth to miss start of season

A foot injury will keep captain Danny Batth from playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Blackburn Rovers next weekend.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has confirmed that Danny Batth will not be fit in time for next weekend's Championship season-opening clash against Blackburn Rovers.

The skipper suffered a stress fracture to his left foot towards the end of last term, but there had previously been reports that he would recover for the start of the 2015-16 campaign.

However, Jackett has revealed that the 24-year-old will not restart full training until after the encounter at Ewood Park.

"He's doing well. His return to full training will be the Monday after the Blackburn game," he told the club's official website.

"We're still going to have to be careful with it but he'll be in full training then."

As well as Batth, it is also expected that midfielder Jed Wallace will miss the Blackburn game because of a knee complaint.
