Aston Villa wideman Ashley Young has reportedly rejected the opportunity to move to Newcastle United.
Despite turning 36 years of age in the summer, Young has been provided with regular game time this season, making eight starts and five substitute outings in all competitions.
However, the versatile Englishman has less than six months remaining on his contract, leaving him as a potential target for other clubs.
According to The Mirror, Newcastle have expressed an interest in signing Young before the end of the January transfer window.
Young is said to have turned down the chance to explore a move to St James' Park, instead wanting to see out the campaign in the West Midlands.
The player has not featured for Villa since December 14, a consequence of a toe injury and losing his spot in the starting lineup.
