Jonas respects Diego Costa's Spain choice

Valencia midfielder Jonas says that he respects Diego Costa's choice to represent Spain after the Atletico Madrid striker had the chance to choose either the World Champions or Brazil.

Valencia midfielder Jonas has said that he respects Diego Costa's decision to play for Spain.

The Atletico Madrid striker was courted by both the World Champions and Brazil before he eventually decided to run out for La Roja, and Jonas said that he could understand Costa's choice.

"You have to respect Diego's decision," he told reporters. "He has a history here and has come through as a player in Spain.

"Playing in a World Cup in our home country would be special, and I would have chosen Brazil, but Spain are my other favourite."

The Atleti forward has scored 13 goals for his side this season.
