Manchester United have reportedly identified Fredi Bobic as a potential candidate to become director of football at Old Trafford.
Despite long-standing speculation regarding an appointment in that capacity, United officials have so far opted against bringing in a new face behind the scenes.
However, according to Bild, the Premier League giants have placed the former Germany international on their shortlist.
Bobic is said to have informed Eintracht Frankfurt that he wishes to take on a new challenge after five years with the Bundesliga outfit.
While Hertha Berlin are regarded as the favourites to secure the 49-year-old's signature, West Ham United and RB Leipzig are also in the running for the ex-forward.
Bobic is no stranger to the Premier League, having spent the second half of the 2001-02 season at Bolton Wanderers.
