Manchester United are still firmly in the hunt for Ajax attacker Antony, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly still looking to sign Ajax attacker Antony during this summer's transfer window despite suggestions that the club had cooled their interest.

The Brazil international was in strong form for his Dutch club during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 12 goals and registering 10 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions.

Man United were strongly linked with the attacker earlier this summer, with the club's new head coach Erik ten Hag said to be keen on a reunion with the player that he managed at Ajax.

Chelsea and Liverpool have recently been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old amid claims that the Red Devils had cooled their interest.

However, according to talkSPORT transfer insider Alex Crook, the 20-time English champions are still firmly in the picture for the South American and are keen to bring him to Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window.

"I've been getting some information about a player we've spoken about before, Antony at Ajax," said Crook. "There have been a lot of reports that Manchester United's interest in him is over. I was under the impression last week that a move for him would only be a target if Cristiano Ronaldo was to leave.

"That may not be the case. I've had some information from a very reliable source that Manchester United are still very much looking to bring Antony to the Premier League.

"Erik ten Hag is a big admirer of his qualities and believes he can add something to his Manchester United rebuild. They haven't got a specific price yet, but the price discussed over in Holland is €70m (£59.9m), or a little bit less than that.

"But the message I've been given is that Antony to Manchester United is very much still on and therefore one to keep an eye on during the remainder of the transfer window."

The Brazilian, who largely plays off the right, has represented his Dutch side on 78 occasions since arriving from Sao Paulo in July 2020, contributing 22 goals and 20 assists.

"It is clear that we want to keep that boy. I think he still has a contract until 2025. I really want to work with him; he knows that, and the club knows that too," new Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder recently told ESPN.

Antony, who has been on the sidelines with an ankle problem since March, is said to have had a close relationship with Ten Hag during his time in Amsterdam.

"I want to thank you for everything you taught me. Know that I will always stand with you if you need me," Antony posted on social media when Ten Hag left to take the Red Devils job.

A recent report claimed that Antony's agents were putting pressure on Ajax to drop their asking price for the South American with a view to securing a summer exit.

Man United have already agreed to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax this summer, with the Argentina international expected to sign a five-year contract with the English giants.
