How Arsenal could line up against Olympiacos

Ahead of the first leg of the Europa League last-32 tie between Olympiacos and Arsenal, Sports Mole looks at how Mikel Arteta's side could line up in Greece.

Arsenal return to Europa League action on Thursday night as they take on Olympiacos in the first leg of their last-32 tie.

Having been named as the long-term successor to Unai Emery, Mikel Arteta takes charge of his first fixture on the continental stage.

The Gunners head into the game having put together an eight-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, with their latest positive result coming courtesy of a 4-0 triumph over Newcastle United at the weekend.

Here, Sports Mole predicts how Arsenal may line up for the meeting at the Karaiskakis Stadium.

Despite the demolition of the Magpies on Sunday, Arteta will make alterations to his team, which should include a recall for Alexandre Lacazette.

The Frenchman is expected to take the place of Eddie Nketiah, while Gabriel Martinelli is in line to come in for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the left flank.

In central areas, Joe Willock could be given the nod over Mesut Ozil, with Lucas Torreira a likely replacement for Granit Xhaka after being dropped at the weekend.

Having allegedly had a disagreement with Arteta during the winter break, Matteo Guendouzi is unlikely to be recalled, meaning that Dani Ceballos could stay in the team.

The backline could also be much-changed as Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac look for game time in the full-back areas.

Although Sokratis Papastathopoulos should come in for David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi is in line to keep his spot with Pablo Mari being given an outing in the Under-23s on Monday night.

Arteta could opt to replace Bernd Leno with Emiliano Martinez between the sticks.
