Aston Villa have been in talks with Jack Grealish over a new and improved contract, according to a report.
The 25-year-old has been the subject of rich transfer speculation this summer, with Manchester City reportedly ready to launch an £88m bid to secure his services.
Grealish is currently away with England at Euro 2020, getting two assists at the tournament so far, after a stellar season in the Premier League where he bagged six goals and got 12 assists in 26 appearances for Villa as they finished 11th.
Now The Telegraph reports that Dean Smith wants to ensure that his captain remains at the club and is ready to offer him a new deal that would take his salary above £150,000 a week, according to the report.
Grealish's current contract runs until 2025, but Villa are prepared to extend this by a year.
The midfielder has been at the Midlands outfit since the age of six and made his senior debut aged 18. Since then he has played 213 games in claret and blue, scoring 32 goals and registering 43 assists.
