The SFA express their surprise at the court's decision to reconsider the 12-month transfer embargo placed on Rangers.

The Scottish Football Association have revealed their surprise at today's decision to reconsider Rangers' transfer embargo.

Judge Lord Glennie ruled that the 12-month ban was unlawful because SFA panel members acted outside of their powers.

He proposed that the case be handed to another appeal tribunal, a judgement that has been met with disappointment by the SFA.

A Scottish FA spokesperson said: "We are surprised by today's verdict at the Court of Session, especially since the original sanction against Rangers FC was imposed by an independent panel chaired by a leading QC and upheld by an appellate tribunal chaired by a Supreme Court judge.

"We will now consider our position with our legal advisers before making any further comment."

Rangers were originally handed the embargo in April after failing to pay up to £13m in tax last year.
