Istanbul Basaksehir are reportedly prepared to make an official approach for out-of-favour Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Istanbul Basaksehir.

Ozil does not feature in the plans of Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, who has not handed the playmaker a single outing since the resumption of the Premier League.

With less than a year remaining on his contract, it leaves the 31-year-old to contemplate his future, aware that he would likely spend next season away from the first-team squad should he remain at the Emirates Stadium.

According to 90 min, Istanbul Basaksehir are prepared to offer the Germany international a move away from Arsenal during the next transfer window.

Having just won the Turkish top flight for the first time in their history, Basaksehir are now looking at ways to strengthen their squad ahead of participation in the Champions League.

Basaksehir may be able to get a deal over the line with government backing, which is expected to be required due to Ozil's wage demands.
