Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink: 'We are feeling empty'

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink admits that his team are 'feeling empty' due to their non-involvement in the trophy hunt at this stage of the campaign.

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has admitted that the English champions are 'feeling empty' as they enter the business end of the season with no silverware to aim for.

The Blues, who comfortably won the Premier League title last season, currently sit 10th in the table - 13 points off the top four with six games left.

The capital side have also already been knocked out of the Champions League, and FA Cup and interim manager Hiddink has conceded that there is currently a flat atmosphere around the club.

"After the defeats suffered in the FA Cup and Champions League, then there's a little bit of emptiness. You are empty - there is no silverware to go for," Hiddink told reporters.

"We knew it would be a difficult season, and we managed to get away from the relegation zone, but at the end you hope to get silverware as the next step... now, for the rest of the season it is important to show what they can do - for themselves, as an obligation for the club, and also beneficial for Chelsea."

Antonio Conte will leave his managerial role with the Italian national team to take control of Chelsea next season.
