Jamie Carragher: 'Jose Mourinho return will work for Chelsea'

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says that Jose Mourinho will be a success at Chelsea following his return to the club this summer.

Jamie Carragher believes that Chelsea's "gamble" of bringing back Jose Mourinho will prove to be a wise decision by the club.

Mourinho has so far won back-to-back home games in the Premier League since returning as the Blues' boss earlier this summer, and the former Liverpool defender feels that the Portuguese's second stint at Stamford Bridge will prove to be a fruitful one.

"It is a gamble but I believe the 'gamble' Mourinho has taken will pay off," Carragher wrote in his column in the Daily Mail.

"What makes Jose Mourinho so special? He has the full package. Some managers are brilliant tacticians, others are masters at man-management but it is rare for them to be outstanding at both.

"I've spoken to lots of players who have worked under him and have only heard good things. The feedback is always the same: 'you would have loved to play for Mourinho'."

Chelsea travel to Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday.
