Fabian Delph ruled out of Manchester City's opening fixtures by injury

Fabian Delph is ruled out of Manchester City's opening two Premier League fixtures due to a hamstring injury the midfielder picked up during a pre-season friendly.

Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph will miss the club's first two Premier League fixtures due to injury.

The 25-year-old picked up a hamstring injury in his first appearance for the Citizens against Real Madrid during a pre-season friendly.

"I think he needs 15 days more," City manager Manuel Pellegrini told reporters at a press conference.

"That will be a month from the injury he got in pre-season. He played just 17 minutes but you saw in those 17 minutes that he will be an important player for this club."

Former Aston Villa captain Delph made the switch to Man City this summer in a reported £8m move.
