Athletic Bilbao consider move for Mauricio Pochettino?

Athletic Bilbao are reportedly interested in appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager after a poor start to the season.

Athletic Bilbao have reportedly identified Mauricio Pochettino as a potential replacement for Gaizka Garitano.

Pochettino, who has been out of work since being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur 12 months ago, has openly acknowledged that he is ready to return to the dugout.

Manchester United, Zenit St Petersburg and a number of other European clubs have all been linked with the Argentine.

However, according to Marca, Athletic may make an audacious approach for the 48-year-old over the coming weeks.

The Spanish side have collected just nine points from their opening eight La Liga matches, a return which has left them in 14th position in the standings.

No decision is expected on Garitano's future until after Athletic's next league fixture against Real Betis.
