Alan Pardew remains hopeful ahead of Mike Ashley meeting

Alan Pardew believes that he will get a vote of confidence when he meets Newcastle United chairman Mike Ashley for their scheduled end of season meeting.

Alan Pardew is confident that his end of season meeting with Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley will reach a positive conclusion.

The beleaguered Magpies boss lost seven of his last eight Premier League games, with large sections of Newcastle supporters calling for Ashley to replace the Londoner before the new season gets underway.

With the 52-year-old under increasing pressure from the terraces, he will look to Ashley for the help he needs to turn Newcastle's fortunes around.

"I think it's important he understands some of the problems I have had," Pardew is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

"Although he has a reputation of being aggressive, he's a better listener. He listens and comes back to me, sometimes 48 hours after, and draws some conclusions from what I have said."

Pardew, who has been at the helm at St James' Park since 2010, is now the longest-serving manager in the Premier League after Arsene Wenger.
