Kyle Walker has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur can challenge for the title next season if they keep hold of their best players.

Spurs recorded a top-four finish in the Premier League but were denied a place in next year's Champions League due to Chelsea's European triumph.

Missing out on club football's elite competition has resulted in several of Tottenham's star names being linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.

However, Walker feels that it is crucial they maintain the services of players such as Luka Modric and Gareth Bale and believes that a title challenge isn't unrealistic if they do.

"I think it's vital [we keep them]," said Walker, who was named PFA Young Player of the Year in his first campaign as a Spurs regular.

"The chairman showed last season that we are not a selling club. We can challenge next year for the title, definitely. We will be up there."

Walker was omitted from England's Euro 2012 squad last week due to a foot injury.
