Jurgen Klopp: 'Christian Benteke may look to leave Liverpool'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that Christian Benteke acknowledges he may need to leave Anfield to get first-team football, but insists he won't be sold cheaply.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Christian Benteke might be leaving Anfield in the current transfer window, but insists that he will not be sold cheaply.

The Belgium striker joined the Reds from Aston Villa this time last year but has struggled to make his mark on Merseyside, leading to speculation that he would be looking for a new club this summer.

When pressed on the issue surrounding the out-of-favour forward, Klopp told Sky Sports News: "Everyone knows about it. Christian has already said maybe it makes sense to go to another club. Christian is still a really great striker.

"We have a few more strikers and I think it makes more sense to give them match time. But if there are clubs that want a real striker than they have to make real offers otherwise we will find solutions. A few clubs try to gamble but we are not part of this, we are serious."

Liverpool, who are said to value Benteke at £32.5m, have reportedly rejected a £26.5m bid from Crystal Palace for the 25-year-old.
